ENO’s “Gold” doorstop is an amusing substitute. It isn’t really 24 carat – the very outside is “flashed” with a thin layer of gold plating while the filling is a mix of aluminium, cast iron and steel. But your hard-to-impress neighbours aren’t going to know that.
