Several studies have shown that shoes aren’t always good for the development of human feet. We need to go barefoot to build strong foundations for later life. But skin is soft and floors are cold, which is where the Nowali moccasin tiptoes in. The handstitched leather soles are tough enough to protect and warm tiny feet but are also supple, so that tootsies can flex and grip the ground. For the above, Nowali knits Oeko-tex 100 yarn into a cross-stitch pattern. Åke Johansson’s 60-year-old firm puts baby feet first.
